Ten-year-old Jenny's new foster mother doesn't live up to her expectations until Jenny discovers that there are more important things in life than lavish gifts and fancy homes.
Reviews with the most likes.
Jenny is an orphan, and she's one of the only children who never gets picked to go out with a foster mom and dad on Sunday. One day one of the nuns chooses Jenny to go with Laura. Laura is much different than Jenny expected, but she turns out to be much better, too.
Sunday's Child is a completely believable girl who can be delighted and then furious, a girl who has never been happier than when she is with Laura, her new Sunday Mommy. The point-of-view seems to be one of the truest looks at the world from the eyes of a child.
Caution: There are parts of the book that had me worried about where the story was going. The author is German, and there are cultural differences in the way things are done there from the way things are done here. I add this cautionary note to my review to encourage adults to read this book first before handing it over to a child, to be sure you feel like it is appropriate.
