This is a very run-of-the-mill kind of book. Not terrible, but not great either. Just OK. I got through it and found Sorensen to be a talented enough writer to keep me engaged, but I wasn't left feeling anything major in either direction.
It had potential, but I'm already not a fan of “magic” being the answer to problems, and throw in a main character who constantly complains about what a loser they are, and well, I'm not really interested to see what happens next.
I thought it was ok. It reminded me a lot of Clary of the Mortal instruments int he first book (all the things she didn't know), but it was well developed and it got me curious as to what will happen next.
