Vol. 1 is a sweet (but dark), atmospheric beginning to a story that I'm eager to keep reading. Right now everything is so shrouded in mystery that it's hard to really judge this book on its own, but I like the way it sets things up.
This book is just beautiful. The art is gorgeous and the story is intriguing. I am planning on reading the rest of the series because I want to know what happens.
Literally couldn't stop reading it and just finished it at the local bookstore- strong start to a magical (and I bet heartbreaking) story
This was such a quiet, atmospheric little book. The artwork is absolutely gorgeous and the story moves along like water in a gentle stream with moments of excitement and tension thrown in like stones. I have the next two books on my desk so can't wait to get through those.
Fairytale-like atmosphere, beautiful artwork and a story that reeled me in and didn't let me go even on the last page. There are a lot of questions raised and not a lot of answers, but I assume that will come in future volumes. It was surprisingly heartwarming with two characters that I instantly loved and cared for, despite really knowing very little about them. Their relationship is really quite sweet - although there seem to be dark underpinnings to the story, so I am interested to see where it goes from here. Highly recommended!
Illustrations are amazing. The story is sweet, fairy tale is. A monster is raising a human child in the outskirts of a forest. A “curse” changes humans into monsters if they touch. Shiva's teacher is both protector and a father to her. Other humans are cruel and afraid.
