I was soo engrossed in the book from the 1st page itself and I really enjoyed it! I think this is one book that I will keep rereading for multiple years to come coz this just seems like the perfect comfort book.I didn't even want the book to finish because I just enjoyed being in Adam and Olive's world and I never wanted to come out of it.I think this is the 2nd book I read with the fake dating trope and I enjoyed this much, much more than the 1st book I read.Okayyy, noww can we talk about Adam, what a dreamy guy, I have added him to my list of never-ending book bfs. After reading about him now I want to read every book with the grumpy sunshine trope. The side characters in the book were very lovable too, Malcolm and Holden especially!I loved the academia and hot nerd vibes from the book!! Overall a really great read.I am hoping that [a:Ali Hazelwood 21098177 Ali Hazelwood https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1611084228p2/21098177.jpg] will write a sequel to this book from Adam's pov coz I want to know everything what Adam was thinking.Pick this up if you are looking for a light and comfy read! Really looking forward to reading more books by [a:Ali Hazelwood 21098177 Ali Hazelwood https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1611084228p2/21098177.jpg].
Listen - I liked it, but it wasn't good. This is like that shitty rom-com you watch every few years because it's just fun to watch when you are bored or want some background noise - like Twilight or The Proposal. The characters are cookie-cutter romance characters. The best friend, gay roommate, fake dating, he falls first - all the tropes and cliches are in here. It's not bad, but it's not memorable and there's nothing actually interesting that happens. The bad guy is like a cartoon villain, and the description of the main love interest being absolutely so so so tall gets really freaking old. Not to mention the cringe that is the sex scene (it's really really bad).
Overall, read it if you like romances but if it's not your genre, you're going to feel the same way I do.
This is jkfgjfdl... Idk how to describe it, I am not really a romance reader but this book man. I basically finished this in one day, because I don't have any self-control and because this book read like crack. It did have some clichés, but like I don't care, cause this romance sjdhfkjldshf. This was my very comprehensive review.
inhaled this in 2 sittings. my expectation was on the floor but i had a great time.

me falling absolutely in love with it: check✅
I don't get the hype...
I considered to stop reading it, but I was more than half way done and I wanted to know the ending (mostly with Tom). The last few chapters were really good, that's why it is 3 stars and not 2,5. Really like the epilogue by the way :)
My little Reylo heart can't get over the perfection of this book. What a way to start 2022.
New favorite for sure.
Olive, a Ph.D. candidate, finds herself in a fake dating situation with a professor after kissing him in front of her friend so her friend would think she was over her ex. What follows is a funny, sweet romance about unexpected love and the brutality of academia.
I really enjoyed this book. I don't know much about the world of academia, but Hazelwood did a wonderful job of making sure the reader understood what this setting is like. Olivia was an incredible perspective to read from. She really is a funny, grounded woman with a hilarious inner dialogue. Adam was sweet and charming and totally unexpected. I kind of wish he was a harder shell to crack since his reputation makes him out to be a hardass. But otherwise, this book was a joy to read. It was sappy and cute, and just what I needed on a Friday.
TW: blackmail, slut shaming, sexual harassment
It's a cute one and a tiny bit different from other romance books I've read so far but that made it more interesting. Laughed a bunch of times and read it basically in one sitting.
I think I needed one like this right now.
3.5/4. Nice and easy rom-com read that made me laugh. A little too predictable, but worth the read.
... ADAM!!!! I LOVED Adam. He was such an asshole to everyone but Olive and it was beautifully done. Plus he's based off Kylo Ren so picturing Adam Driver definitely helped me love him a bit more hahahah. I loved the fake dating trope being written between a professor and grad student, it made it very interesting to see how people changed towards her, especially since she's “dating” the hardest professor.
I loved this book and can't wait to hopefully read more of Adam and Olive's relationship.
Classic rom-com “fake-dating” trope, classic main character who feels super insecure and almost ruins everything at every turn, and classic brooding male lead who is soft and gentle only to the main character. Just classic. I loved the science background and the constant quippy banter. It was a good time.
