One woman's reappearance throws her family into turmoil, exposing dark secrets and the hidden, often devastating truth of family relationships. Really enjoyable exploration of a cult and its aftermath. I think I found a continuity error (I don't think the isolated members would know about the movie The Revenant?), and I would have liked to have known more about the “reckonings”, but otherwise, a quite fascinating what-if.
Impeccable writing, super interesting, but like others I thought the ending left a lot to be desired. I'll definitely be reading more by this author though!
Added: I'm increasing my ending because I keep thinking about this one!
I normally stay away from books which have cults in them because I end up not liking them almost all the time. So you obviously know I recommend this.From the multiple chapters, I wasn't that interested in the before chapters (since they were solely based on the cult), but rather the aftermath of it and what was going on currently. Not many twists in the book because you know what is going on most of the time. I am not really sure what to think of the ending because that was totally unexpected I probably should've seen it coming but I didn't. And that caught me off guard.I'll definitely be picking up more books from this author. the main reason being, I keep seeing sooo many tiktoks of her books and I get major fomo so ill definitely be reading to see what the hype is all about:)
