I loved it! I have waited for this comic to get released for months! Suki is amazing! I am a big ATLA fan and this comic satisfied me. We see Suki's past before meeting team Avatar, then after some parts and how she got out from Kyoshi Island with the other Kyoshi Warriors, and then when she got into the Boiling Rock. I loved how Suki always stayed as herself and tried building a community there even if it didn't work as hoped. Her Kyoshi sisters were so amazing and Spoilershe saw Avatar Kyoshi's spirit like what!!! Great read and drawings and story too! I recommend to all ATLA show fans and comic fans!!!
LOL, I just read this with my tiny fancy sisters, they love the accessories and the things that come with this bag. To me... ya know, I ain't fancy...
I got this for my little sister and I'd say she loved it! It's very cute and the drawings are AMAZING! The glitter pouch in the cover is very satisfying too!
Man, this was very interesting! I liked it a lot! Wow this was kinda deep for a MG read, is it YA too? The main character Jonathan (not to be confused with John, lol) is sent into this awful island school for delinquent boys. He has a horrible secret that keeps haunting him (I kinda guessed earlier on but still) and I'd say his PTSD and grief and guilt is soo real and very nicely handled. I liked his friendship with Colin and how even though Sebastian was being shi#*y he still didn't hate him and be mad at him. I liked his character and the ending... wow! I gotta say it was a light fast read! I read this for a Book Club and I'm glad I did, I'm impressed by how it sounds as a sort of classic and stuff. Also the books mentioned about islands and seas
Thank you Edelweiss+ for this ARC book!
This is just AMAZING! I mean, it's such a cute children's book about this female astronomer of the 1800s that not many have heard of, unfortunately. She's a big hero to girls and everyone and just the writing and illustrations are so cute! I loved this, I hope more kids learn more about Maria Mitchell!
Obviously, I loved this! It is just AMAZING! I'm soo happy I found this series. I'll read the rest, of course! This one was darker I guess and more things happened. Annabeth was kinda annoying in this one. I liked Rachel. The gang was together again with Tyson and Grover. I just loved everything, it's a MASTERPIECE! I mean, seriously if you still haven't read any RR and/or PJO books, go read it now!!!
10000/5
First off I got a free ebook copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review, so thank you!
How can I say this... well the book was I guess a bit childish for my taste even tho I enjoy Middle-Grade books and graphic novels like Big Nate and Diary Of A Wimpy Kid. This book was inspired I can say by Diary of a wimpy kid but it clearly is different. The main character, Robin is Malaysian which I liked and he was from a super-rich family. Basically he was in a super expensive private school where only super-rich kids went. He has two best friends Charlie and Ken. Charlie is a very snobbish, selfish, and overdramatic kid which really annoyed me. He made his mom remarrying such a big deal and made all little stuff be such a BIG deal... It was good that Robin knew that and he was annoyed by it too, he was not as selfish as him... Then comes Ken the only sane one from the group. The rich kids think of him as poor but actually he is of a higher middle class I would say. So still richer than most people in the world (including me). He was smart and kind which I liked. But the book was to cliche and predictable. It seemed to me that the author just had this idea of “hey what if the main characters are super-rich and go in a vocation in the Bahamas where there are sharks and worms who destroy their luxurious lives?!”I mean I didn't like it that much... Just when they first mentioned that they will go to the Bahamas and said there are sharks I knew there will be shark attacks and to felt too generic and childish. Actually, I looked at data, and shark attacks in the Bahamas are soooo rare... Anyways this was just the imagination of the author so... I'd say kids age 10 to 12 may enjoy this but clearly not for older peeps like me (I'm a high schooler, btw). Anyways, good first try, I guess?! And the illustrations were nice but the outfits seemed too basic for supposed super-rich peeps and Alibaba's name was just so stereotypical.
So... this review is probably not typical, because I only read this one and not the first two comics. Yeah, stupid but I couldn't find the rest where I found this one. The illustrations and the story's setting were pretty cool! I'll see if I can read the first two comics as well because I actually enjoyed this one! Henrietta and all these weird creatures were cool! Also, the book ended in a cliffhanger so I suppose there will be a 4th one!
Very nice... I liked this book and the descriptions of experiencing scoliosis. I just didn't understand why the author didn't mention the people like her family telling her to stay straight before she started wearing a brace... I mean I experience that all the time... I also have to wear a brace and I haven't worn it for years now because I thought people will make fun of me and look silly. Reading this gave me the courage to go to the doctor and get the brace at last. I am scheduling an appointment this week!!! I loved how real the friendship problems were... The only stuff I didn't like was Tate... He didn't seem that nice and I think the romance was kinda unnecessary. Kyle was definitely the worst and SpoilerI can't believe he wanted to touch Hazel's breast like what the heck??? Plus she's all flat!!! Blach... And the unnecessary calling Frannie a lesbian like... Kyle is soo mean and dumb!!! I felt bad about Frannie's mom who committed suicide due to a mental illness and calling it an accident of overdose felt weird... I recommend it so much and especially to other peeps who share the back problems too!!! Alyson Gerber is so real in her writing and I will surely read her other books!!!
Ava is such a cool and cute character. She's an 11-year-old girl who has five important things:
Anxiety, One
ICD Pacemaker, Two
Loves ice cream, Three
Writing, Four
Daydreaming, Five!
She is like me in 4/5 because I don't have any heart condition (thankfully). Her anxiety was very real because the author themselves has it and the heart condition too... I liked how Ava became more open and less anxious as the story progressed and her improv friends were soo nice and fun! I would have liked it if I went to Improv, but there is no such thing in my country... Anyways I liked her relationships with her family and how she handled Ty.. It was soo nice and kind of her. I was a bit scared when she got a shock from her heart tho... I didn't like Zelia much, I think she was some friends I have had in the past too. That they are the ones who always decide for you and just... I don't know she didn't seem that nice to me.. I know moving away from everyone that far must be hard but still... Ava was being brave about everything tho and she did the Cotillion no matter what! Flying by herself must have been scary... I did once when I was younger but that was with friends and a guardian... anyways great book, I recommend to Middle Grade and realistic fiction lovers and those who love MC with health and neurodiverse brains!!!
i loved it! pretty amazing reveals and more in depth about Amelia's emotional turmoil, loved the whole composing lessons and her found family. i love the audiobook experience the most, don't think it's as fun if I just simply read it, without all the music which made me feel like I'm there or watching a movie, gorgeous! also am just in awe from the magic system, I just love how unique it is!
A good book about the life of Ibrahim Kodra a famous Albanian Italian painter in a storytelling kind of way. His life was very sad but I'm glad he finally got what he always wanted...
Wow, this was soo cool and fun! I love retellings, and light mangas so I was up to this! And it was so fun, I loved all the characters and the way they were portrayed, especially their backstories. Also, this does keep straight to the original in the inside story but really it seems to be more complicated than that, as Oz seems to control the way the story goes. Interesting! I'd love to read the other volumes too, I just have to find them first, lol. Fully recommend it to peeps who love retellings, mangas, and just fun fantasy stuff!
Also, my favorite character was definitely Hayward the Scarecrow, he is so cute and innocent.
Thanks, Edelweiss for this ARC picture book!
OK, so this is so cute and beautiful! I love the illustrations and all the messages to a green city! I think kids will love this. I recommend it, and it's very diverse!
Ummm, so I never read these kinds of books... they just aren't my style but a friend gave it to me as a B-day gift so I had to give it a go... It's basically a story about a friendship between an 11 -soon-to-be -a 12-year-old optimistic girl and a middle-aged bling man. That's basically it. They both are in tough situations and find love and positivity in each other. The man is basically a depressed, angry, and lonely man who doesn't have anyone anymore. His boyfriend has died long ago with their puppy and many other friends. His family isn't much in touch with him and his mom hates him for being “not normal”... He used to be a very famous painter and designer and now he is a nobody. The girl Lupe is a Hispanic kid who lives with her grandparents because her parents are in Mexico to find a job. Her grandpa is very sick with some lung disease and she Spoilerlater turns out also has an illness, cancer! That was not much of a twist but, whatever. It's just basically a story that you feel like you've read many times! In the end, Lupe celebrates her Quinceañera and she is happy, strong, and positive as always!
Thanks to the author, publisher, and BookSirens for this ARC book.
As it is with many authors' first books, this one was nowhere close to perfect. Of course, I understand, as I see the author never really imagined he would be one, so I gotta say he must be fairly new to writing. The idea was one that had quite some potential. I mean two brothers of different ages who go on this weird world and find out they're not just wizards but Spoilerdivine, which is higher than others, seems pretty cool. Also, the horns idea is pretty interesting as well. But, the execution is where it fails. The age difference is way too much, I mean Moris is only 10 while Henry is 18. It's hard to read from such different voices and Henry doesn't really seem 18, he is more like 15 or something. I didn't grow to like any of the characters much, let alone the side ones which were too many to even remember, and understand what's going on. I gotta say the names felt too odd to me too, I mean the fantasy world's names. It feels too childish, and the world-building is done rather poorly. I know this is the first one of a series so maybe the author will have more chance to develop it more, later on, especially Maya who I have theories is the Spear's user as there are mentioned to be three divine instruments. Also, the thing about their dad is left unclear. And the ‘plot twist' in the end was just not shocking enough for me, SPOILER and I feel like he shouldn't have been darkened so fast. A thing I thought was interesting was the use of energy and meditation and to forgive yourself and let go, which I thought was important. Anyways, if the author fixes some stuff for the second one, I'd give it a try, it would be interesting to know what happens next as the end here is nowhere to an actual end.
This was soo calm and cute. It was like a hug. I loved Trille and Lena, they were such good best friends! Lena was so brave and got hurt a lot but she didn't care. Trille was so caring and loyal to her. Grandpa was nice too. Trille's grief was so real. I loved the way they spoke and how Norway was described. It seemed to have taken place in this country site on the north at fjords some years after World War 2. I recommend this to all! I read this for the BOTM of “Great Middle-Grade Reads” group, and it was very enjoyable and sweet!!!
I love this Webtoon so much! Camille is so amazing. I love Nyra and Dendro too. I gotta say this handles trauma and parental abuse soo well, also recovery too!
Thanks, NetGalley, the author and the publisher for this ARC amazing book!
Wow, this one was so good. It's a comic book set in the 50s in New Jersey. It's about Susie who is the youngest sister of a Jewish family who has emigrated to the US. It's good as it's actually based on the real story of Susie. Susie always had her nose in a book while her sisters were pretty and funny. I liked how good the living in the 50s was portrayed and the illustrations were soo very vintagey. Being Jewish in the US was portrayed so well as well, especially since this takes place just a decade after the infamous WW2. I recommend this to everyone and I'm so happy I read this!
Another Rowley Jefferson storybook! I liked it of course. (you may see that I read all Diary of a wimpy kid and Rowley Jefferson books...) It was fun but definitely not scary... maybe for little kids but not me. They were fun and creative tho... In the last one, I am sure Greg was just playing but he really did scare Rowley... poor kid. Otherwise, I see that Rowley was so inspired by himself and it was nice seeing that all the stories he writes are with kind people because he has a very good heart... Anyways, I recommend this to Diary of a wimpy kid and Rowley Jefferson's fans!!!
LOVE IT SO MUCH! It's definitely my fave Webtoon! I love the diversity! I love how it focuses on family abuse and trauma. Camille's powers are wow! Also, I love that this focuses more on Avaline and her awful mother and her past. It's just illustrated and written so well!
Well, it was just a fun little read with my siblings. It was educational too and I knew the house wasn't really haunted but not the way it turned up to be. I loved the sibling dinamics though...
Great book! It's very surprising how old the book is and is still very popular and the advice is not outdated!!!
