The book had a slow start and has generally a slower pace compared to the books I read before, e. g., from Freida McFadden. It took about to one third into the book to really spark my interest, but then it was very good.
I started to like the main character at the same time and really liked her and her dog. Luckily there is just the right amount of talking about the dog and it's not the center of the story.
Great book I can recommend to anyone with just a little bit of patience.
The message and the core concepts in this book are very interesting, extremely useful and very well explained. There is much more value than in the corresponding TED talks as more details and relations to the concept are explained. But overall this book has very much repetition. Especially, the examples are repeated over and over. I could live with that repetition quite well and I don't think that should stop anyone from reading this otherwise great book.
Very nice reading with a lot of great wisdom. It is also quite easy to read and understand. Took less than an hour to read once, but offers content to think about for long time.
Miguel Ruiz's “The Four Agreements” is a concise yet deeply impactful guide to personal freedom and happiness. I found the four core messages both logical and profoundly useful, with the first two agreements—“Be impeccable with your word” and “Don't take anything personally”—resonating strongly with me. They reminded me of Buddhist teachings on “right speech” and the concept of “non-self,” adding a spiritual depth to their practical wisdom. The other two agreements—“Don't make assumptions” and “Always do your best”—are equally insightful and easy to apply to everyday life. The book's brevity makes it a quick read, but its messages linger long after. I read most of it on the first evening, unable to put it down. A must-read for anyone seeking clarity and transformation in their life.
Ich fand die Fälle sehr unterschiedlich spannend. Manche extrem spannend, manche etwas uninteressant und langweilig. Aber insgesamt ein sehr gutes Buch für jeden der „True Crime“ mag.
This book is excellent for learning about vipassana meditation. I found it extremely helpful and useful. The other book that is equally useful is „The Illuminated Mind“. I found it very useful to read both books since they nicely complement each other.
This is an excellent book for anyone who wants to learn more about the war of russia against Ukraine. Both part (before the war and the war itself) are full of great information and insights.
A fantastic book. I even liked it better than the first one. I knew there will be crazy plot twists, but I was very pleasantly surprised to find out how everything sorted out.
I really liked the atmosphere and the great suspense. I did not mind some mild repetition. It was another great page turner and kept me guessing until the end.
This is a great book if you want to improve how your body feels. It contains very useful and practical advice. I think almost everybody should read this book.
I highly enjoyed the entire series. But this was my favorite book of the series. I highly recommend the series to anyone who likes the crime and thriller genre.
I liked about one third of the content very much. This was about useful information about exercise, nutrition, sleep and mental health. This parts of the book are worth 5 stars for me.
The other two thirds were quite boring or even mildly annoying for me. They consist mainly of anecdotes or way too long explanations for things that could be expressed with a fraction of the words. These parts are more like 1 star for.
On average, I can still give 3 stars, because the goods parts were really good.
I not sure whether I want to recommend this book. Probably not.
Another great thriller from Freida McFadden. A very enjoyable read. Very entertaining and very easy to read.
This book was one of the best I have read in the last few months.
It starts very good and continues to be more fascinating and interesting as the book progresses.
A very high recommendation to read this excellent book from my side.
This audiobook immediately piqued my interest. I thoroughly enjoyed Michael A. Singer's rational and almost scientific approach to exploring profound concepts. His narration is captivating and personal, making the content feel impactful. As someone who has read numerous books on Buddhism, I found the ideas presented in this audiobook to be remarkably aligned with Buddhist teachings, yet presented in a clearer and more actionable manner compared to many others. It's a powerful and thought-provoking listen that I highly recommend to anyone seeking clarity and inner peace. This book undoubtedly deserves a place in my collection of favorite books. I'm likely to listen to it multiple times and read the printed version. I'll also explore most of the other books by this brilliant author.
This book was very helpful, short and easy to read. It has some overlap and repetition from the first book of this series, but I found this helpful and not negative. I found all the advice very simple and easy to understand, but also very logical and therefore effective.
Excellent short book. A must read for anyone who thinks he procrastinates too much. Very short, but highly effective.
Absolute interesting and fascinating story that was great from the beginning. I listened to the german audiobook which has a brilliant speaker.
I highly enjoyed this amazing story.
This book is a liberating and accessible guide to self-awareness, reminding us that we are already whole and don't need “fixing.” The audiobook's conversational tone and blend of humor and wisdom make it deeply engaging. While much of the content felt familiar from other teachings rooted in Buddhist philosophy, de Mello's unique perspective makes it feel fresh and impactful. A must-listen for anyone seeking simplicity and clarity in their journey toward inner peace.
I am very surprised about the negative reviews. I liked this book very much. It is a very easy and enjoyable read. It triggered some good thought processes in my and kept me in a positive mood after reading.
Listening to Barack Obama's audiobook “A Promised Land” was an enriching experience. The content is deeply engaging, offering a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at his presidency and personal journey. What made the experience even more special was Obama's narration. His voice carries warmth, humor, and a genuine authenticity that kept me captivated, even as I finished the very long audiobook with almost 30 hours. While the sheer number of names sometimes made it challenging to keep track of who was who, it didn't diminish the power of the storytelling. Overall, I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone interested in politics or personal growth. It's a compelling, insightful, and inspiring listen.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book from the very first page. I didn't read any descriptions beforehand, which heightened the sense of surprise and wonder. I highly recommend doing the same.
I absolutely loved this book and savored every page. I particularly enjoyed Andy Weir's previous work, “The Martian.” While they share many similarities, I found this book to be even more captivating. To avoid spoilers, I'll refrain from providing specific details.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys science fiction or was particularly fond of “The Martian.” For me, it stands as one of the most enjoyable books I've ever read.
Another page-turner. My fourth book from this great author. I will definitely read some more from her.
