While driving through the mountains of West Virginia during a late-night snowstorm, a recently divorced woman experiences bizarre electrical problems, leaving her with little choice but to place her trust with a charismatic truck driver. But when an unexplainable creature with haunting red eyes gets between them, she is forced to make one of the toughest decisions of her life. This was an extremely claustrophobic read. The sense of isolation, and entrapment was executed extremely well, the reveals that nothing is quite as it seems built up beautifully for such a short read. I was attracted to the Mothman premise (I have not read enough Mothman stuff) but was not prepared for the psychological horror that was presented here.
Disturbing in all the best ways

I haven't been that scared of a book in a good long time. This story had my jaw dropping a few times and it was actually scary. Honestly enjoyed it. I was a bit confused by the ending and had to search for some clarification but it kind of lined up to what everyone else was saying. So glad I gave Laurel a chance after Crossroads. That books was such a disaster.
