Apparently this is the last volume before the authors go on a hiatus. It's heartbreaking because it doesn't end anywhere near a happy note. The whole series I've known that the world of Saga is cruel and violent. I got the message. After seeing the main characters survive the most horrible situations I was not prepared for this ending. I don't want to believe. And that's how good this series is. I care about every character. Even the bad ones. Ok, not all the bad ones.
Hopefully we will see the continuation of the story soon!

I read the first issue aaages ago when Saga had just started and I'm determined to read all of it now. The first issue left a good impression on me and now that I've read a whole volume - Yep. This is my shit. Love it! Also, I never find many protagonists that share my name so this is a plus hahah

There's no better proof of the amazing quality of the storytelling and character building in this series than the level of anger and sadness that the authors are able to generate by playing with the reader's feelings (and patience)
I can not put this more succinctly that the only word to say regarding reading this beautiful book and series thus far is that it fucking has destroyed me. DESTROYED.

This one choked me up a bit. What a cliffhanger ending! I can't believe people had to wait 4 years for the next issue!
To of taken a hiatus here I just know that however many years we still have to wait for the next one, it is probably just going to be a disappointment. What a shame.
Story
I didn't read very many comics anymore. When I was younger I consumed a lot of superhero stuff, but then I pretty much rolled off with a few exceptions. Then along came Saga. I still don't read a ton of comics, but this series has lead me to pick up several other great series.
With the announced hiatus of this series and the lament of friends of mine about the cliffhanger ending, I debated waiting to pick this one up, but inevitably, there was no way could do that.
This was another great entry in the series, but they've all been great. I don't love the cliffhanger, especially with the series hiatus, but if there is any series worth waiting for it's this one.
Artwork
Fiona Staples is easily my favorite comic artist. Her characters are so great, and often so disgusting. She does such a great job matching Mr. Vaughan's vision that I don't think anyone else could draw it properly. I've read a few other series Mr. Vaughan has written and this one easily has the best artwork.

This series messed with my poor little heart. I knew I had to stop at vol.8 and pretend it ended there. Now I crave more xD

This volume is gut-wrenching and beautiful. I can't wait and yet I'm terrified for the next one.
I gave this 5 stars because it was written, illustrated, and colored really well like all the other Saga volumes/issues before it. This volume broke my heart, I screamed out loud and sobbed and sobbed until I finally accepted what transpired. I'm hesitant to read any of the next issues, I think I'd like to wait for the next volume to come out. I'm so sad, I'm trying to remind myself that this story is worth finishing even if it makes me sad sometimes (most of the time).
5 stars Oh my god. That ending. I'm heartbroken. I can't believe we have to wait AT LEAST a year to know what will happen next. I understand the need for the creators to take a break, but did they have to leave us on SUCH a sad note?
