A beautiful short story to follow Elantris, done within 30 minutes or so.
It also has a wonderful story behind it, make sure to read the annotation for this either before or after reading this book.
Side story for what was happening in Elantris during the attack. The postscript describing the reason why this story was written was so sweet ☺️
A short story that gives a peek into some of the action we miss in the novel Elantris. I wouldn't read it before the book, the reader learns a lot about the world in the novel before this action takes place.
Decent short story that only sort of fills in a missing plot point from Elantris.
An enjoyable 10-minute read. Nothing really noteworthy, other than Sanderson's motivations for writing the story (very sweet).
To slake my thirst, I listened to the dramatised audiobook version of the short story, The Hope of Elantris.
It's a small story that takes place somewhere at the end of Elantris. It featured a character that was not in the book, but it was sweet and added to the satisfaction we got from the really nice ending of the novel.
We also got hints about what happened to our favourite couple after the events of Elantris. (Thank you for the fanservice, Brandon Sanderson.)
But, again, I wanted a lot more!
Anyway, I loved the magic system in this world, though I wonder how secure Elantris can be thanks to the way the magic is set up. (I can't say anything else without spoiling anything.)

Short but interesting alternate storyline during the climax of Elantris.
A cute short story to round out the end of Elantris. Great job, once again, Brandon!
2.5 stars.
I knew of the postsript before reading this novella and, with all honesty, that influenced my rating positively by half star. I found totally cool what Brandon did.
The novella per se was barely interesting to me. I was not interested in Matisse, the main character, nor the children. In my experience, I have noticed that novellas work for me if the characters are already introduced in a “canon” book and I had the time to get a connection with those characters. Novellas are in general too short for me to grow fond of new characters. I was expecting more a short anedcote focused on Sarene, Raodem and Ashe in New Elantris. However, it was nice to go back to elantris even for a few pages after so many years I have read the book. I noticed I also like its magic system with seons resembling somehow sprens of the stormlight archive. I hope we can come back to Elantris soon.
It was cute but it was cheesy. I don't think it's a necessary read or even one that really adds to the experience. It's fun if you have time and already own the story in a collection, but don't seek it out.
Short, heartfelt with the annotation regarding Emily Sanderson's student Matisse. This little side tale reveals how much is truly going on in the Elantris novel, with the New Elantris city being more properly explored and represented through the perspectives of Matisse and Mareshe. The focus on children and emotional attachments between characters was nice, and there was the same tonal/ action shift in this story as in Elantris's conclusion. Most intriguing to me were the opening and closing sections, which provide teases as to what happened to our characters after Elantris.
This was wholesome, but the postscript??? That was just too sweet for my small heart. ಥ‿ಥ

Just a nice story about what the seon Ashe was doing during the climax of Elantris. Doesn't really add anything crazy to the world except knowing what Raoden and Sarene have been up too after the events of Elantris. Looking forward to the Elantris sequels when Brandon is able to write them!
Ni siquiera le pondré valoración.
Spoilers Elantris ↓
5.5/10
Cozy short story, but nothing special.
Very nice context from the postscript in AU though.
... It is as if Elantris is a testing ground for the kinds of characters that will become most common in Sanderson???s later works. They have none of the polish and very little of the layers of nuance that make Sanderson???s other characters so enjoyable to read about. It is quite clear ??? especially to readers who have already read Sanderson???s later works ??? that these characters are mere shadows of what they will later become.
