First completed book for the 2022 Book Riot Read Harder Challenge:
4. Read a book set in a bookstore.
This was a amazing graphic novel that I reverted from netgalley. If you never read a graphic novel before I will recommend you pick up this one.
The relationship between the two characters was so beautiful. From witchy magic, to unconditional family and found friendship. To finding each other after a long time. It was so beautiful.
A story of love and demons, family and witchcraft.
Nova Huang knows more about magic than your average teen witch. She works at her grandmothers' bookshop, where she helps them loan out spell books and investigate any supernatural occurrences in their New England town.
One fateful night, she follows reports of a white wolf into the woods, and she comes across the unexpected: her childhood crush, Tam Lang, battling a horse demon in the woods. As a werewolf, Tam has been wandering from place to place for years, unable to call any town home.
Pursued by dark forces eager to claim the magic of wolves and out of options, Tam turns to Nova for help. Their latent feelings are rekindled against the backdrop of witchcraft, untested magic, occult rituals, and family ties both new and old in this enchanting tale of self-discovery

It was cute, i loved the disability and the lgbtq+ representation. This was a cozy fantasy and i need more of these
Mooncakes is the perfect witchy and magical queer little story. It left me with so much joy with how many positive relationships there are. It truly felt like being wrapped up in a fuzzy blanket while reading this story.
4.5 stars! I loved this.
The art is beautiful, the story is great, the characters are AMAZING. Such a good graphic novel <3
i would like to read this book again for the first time
or the sequel starring terry & tam being crimefighters
Graphic novel. Sapphic. Witch. Werewolf. Non-binary. Disability rep. Asian rep. While I love these elements, and the gorgeous color palette, the chemistry was somehow off for me. 3 stars. (Glad I read it, not planning to revisit, happy to recommend.)
It's obvious that the main focus is the romance, I wish you have seen a development in their relationship, we did see flashbacks of their past in high school but since they finish high school shouldn't their relationship be more than just kissing, plus the plot wasn't very good, and what looked like it's supposed to be a twist didn't shocked me because I hardly seen the person whom the characters seems very surprised and betrayed by. I liked that Nova has a hearing aid, I never seen that portrayed in a book before, but there was a scene where Nova wasn't using them and she was talking to her grandmothers which made no sense because it's seemed like a big deal to Nova to wear them and a lot of the dialogues were about them.
I didn't like the art style, I'm pretty sure they didn't explain about why only Tam was trying to get rid of the demon, Nova and her grandmas are witches they cloud try with their magic too, why is it supposed to a werewolf ? And since there is wolf magic then shouldn't there be books about it or maybe a pack of werewolves to help Tam.
If you're reading this for the romance there is a great chance you'll enjoy this
If you're reading it for the witchy and spooky stuff I don't think you'll enjoy it much, giving we got little about how the magic system works.
this was so freaking wholesome, the ending made me annoyed though cause i wanted more after they defeated the demon!!! but these two are adorable def most recent fav wlw couple and the fact that they're loving together works my heart.
Cute and quick read. Loved the art and the fact that everyone had a different body-type and the cast was really diverse, however it gave me no emotions except for a smile at the end because the story was about love and finding your place in the world.
THIS WAS SO SOOOOOO FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! I want to Scream and Scream about it!!!!!! Ok first off, the Diversity was SO GOOD!!!!!!! It has a Non-binary werewolf (and they are EVERYTHING I'VE EVER WANTED OUT OF A WEREWOLF), a bi witch who uses hearing aids, Lesbian grandmas, And a fat friend who's a scientist!!!!!! I fell in LOVE with these characters SO FAST!!!!!!! And the Writing itself is So much Fun!!!!!! It's suuuuper fast paced too, I couldn't put it down until I had read it all in one sitting!!!!!! HIGHLY recommend this if you like graphic novels and fantasy books!!!!!!!!
3.5. It is such a cute and cozy story! However, because of how short it is, I am left wanting more depth from these characters and the plot didn't really surprise me in any way. It's a quick story that has some of the most beautiful illustrations, but it didn't connect with me on the level I seek from a book.
This was a fun and sweet witchy romance! I LOVED the art especially the little forest sprites.
It's a cute story, I would have loved it more if I was 30 years younger :-D
I'm not too fond of the illustrations, but it's not bad.
Hearing impaired representation.
This was incredibly sweet and empowering. The art was beautiful.
Such a cute little graphic novel, beautifully illustrated and delightfully queer. Great characters, good story, absolutely nothing not to like. Will definitely be looking out for more by the same author and illustrator.
me gustó mucho, fue una historia muy tierna, pero por momentos me resultaba algo infantil. la relación al principio la sentí muy apurada, pero luego empezó a avanzar a un ritmo más tranquilo.
mucha representación en varios sentidos y muy bien hecha.
