I had this book by Emily Griffin recommended to me and I'm glad I bought it.
Read it in 2 days, bought the sequel at midnight straight after finishing.
Rachel is a strong heroine who puts up with a lot from her long term friend Darcy.
I think this story resonates so much because we've probably all had a friend like Darcy.
I struggled to get through this book. None of the characters were even likable! The main character was just this whiny, woe-is-me girl who is “best friends” with a complete bitch. Terrible book, don't even waste your time reading it, I wish I hadn't.
It was ok. The characters and their fears, desires were clear. As you can see from other reviews many character's personality where un-liked. My issue was the author explaining to much instead of showing action, or dialog. I've read many reviews before picking up this book. Anyone who says Rachel should have ended up with Ethan has not read the book. I think that option is movie based. Ethan is long distance in this and he is rachel's vacation escape from the wedding. The book had Hilary as the friend mostly in the know, giving advice, and challenging Dexter.
I didn't like the characters. I thought all 4 were all selfish and so very self -centered. I didn't really like the plot. Hearing about book 2 made book 1 better though. I won't read book 2, but I read a plot summary. So I cared enough for that. And it actually made me raise it a star.
I don't have a whole lot to say about this one. It is quite different from the movie. Many things were changed. I watched the movie first, and I prefer how the main characters are portrayed in the movie than in the book. The book was a bit of a disappointment for me.
So annoying to be such a lousy friend/girlfriend/professional. At some point I wanted to yell at Rachel to please go to therapy and work things out.
Don't make the mistake of watching the movie before reading this book... It makes it unbearable!
I read this book a long time ago, in my chick lit days when I was obsessed with finding my own love story. I enjoyed it. Now, I probably wouldn't so much because I have my own pretty great love story. But it's a cute book (if you can call that a compliment)
