Maybe gothic suspense isn't for me? It seems rather formulaic and I don't like the formula.
Woman who doesn't have a direction in life investigates the event from her childhood that cursed her to a directionless existence. As a part of the investigation, she is in some creepy old house. She starts a relationship with a questionable guy and eventually discovers that the unexpected person is actually the bad guy. The parts that I really don't like are the directionless girl because she doesn't seem to have a spine and then I can't really like any of the characters. So I don't care that the unexpected person is actually the bad guy because I don't really like any of them.
So this book isn't for me, but I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who like this formula.
I agree with everyone else who said there was no plot, the characters were frustrating and really unlikable, and the ending was boring. This really failed to draw me in, and it felt so drawn out for no reason.
