Holy shit, I loved this book. Holy mother of god, I don't understand it. People say that Cress will be even better, and I'm just like, “how???” I am so fucking excited to read Cress and Winther, this was just absolutely wonderful, and I fucking love every single one of the new characters, they're all amazing, and funny, and badass, and great, and cool, and damn, I wish I knew them in real life.
Holy crack-shit-couch, everybody needs to read this series because W.O.W.
Me senti lendo um J-RPG!
Esse livro tem:
- Mocinho Berseker
- Mocinha gunner
- Piloto ladino (mocinho do próximo?)
I started this book off already not very impressed with book 1, but the setting and concept was great and I wanted to give it a try. But I was again disappointed. The writing did not much improve and the plot was just as annoying. The characters' personality traits were either very loud or totally contradicted themselves for plot convenience. The characters are also very dumb. If they realised things at the speed of me reading it 3/4 of the plot wouldn't have happened, which makes it quite annoying to keep reading. The writer really underestimates the intelligence of the reader. ex. Wolf is so clearly a werewolf and having scarlet go “what are you” is just..
Somethings that could have been really cool were only limitedly used. Like Iko's connection with the ship mechanics to express visual emotional ques. They are only shown when someone is in direct conversation with her. But she is always listening so why is it never added in the other, often quite heated, conversations that happen on the ship. Does she suddenly have a stone-cold poker face?
I also would have liked to see Wolf's backstory. It seemed way more interesting then Scarlets from the tiny glimpse of it we are given totally at the end of the book.
All in all, I didn't like it and probably won't be continuing with this series anytime soon.
This book was just SOOOOO AWESOME. It makes Cinder book look like a stupid bug next to the hugeness (I am not sure that's a word) of how awesome this book is! (Thinking about changing the rating for Cinder =P hmmmmm!) I LOVED IT! I can't wait for Cress!
4.5 stars loving this series! Cinder and Scarlet are amazing!some of it is a bit cliché/predictable, but that's okay! I'm also kind of liking Thorne haha!
54%: UwU
62%: estaba muy distraída con Lobo y no me lo imaginé
83%: No si literalmente solo quedas tú
86%: Lobo
98%: owwww
I really enjoyed this book. I give it a 4 stars. A 7 out of 10 though I feel is more accurate. I really enjoyed it and I'm definitely going to binge read the rest of the series but I'm not like obsessed with it or anything. But I could see how the series continues I would become obsessed though. The writing is still fantastic I love the world. And the series is really starting to build up. And I LOVEEEE Wolf. He is just amazing. I don't really know what else to say since this is the second book but I just loved the writing, the world, the plot, and the characters. The ending was pretty great as well.
Scarlett is hands down one of my favorite protagonists. She made this entire book and I love her and Wolf and everyone.
4.5 STARS!!!!! (knocked down .5 stars since first reading in 2014)
I remember LOVING Scarlet and Wolf but (at least in this book) I really didn't like their relationship, but the main plot point of their story made me excited to keep reading.
BUT UM THORNE?!?!?!?!??!?!? He said some pretty gross shit about/towards some of the women in this story but when he wasn't he was funny and charming. I'm super excited for his romance!!!!!!
4.5/5 stars
I love fairy-tale retellings!
A little bit better than the first one, some confusing bits but they seem to get answered towards the end.
I don't know how I'm going to be able to wait till 2014 for the next book and then 2015 for the last book! Why Marissa Meyer, why?!?
Really enjoyed this second installment in the Lunar Chronicles I liked that the introduction of the new characters was so seamless and that they added so much more depth to Cinder's original storyline. It was also interesting to see the character progression of Cinder from someone on the run whose never believed in herself to being determined to take back what is rightfully hers. I can only imagine what the next book in this series will bring and what fairy tale will be tackled next!
3.5ish stars
I liked this book a lot better than the first partly because there were less aggravating one dimensional characters but it didn't quite hit the mark. I feel like the focus on two characters showed the depth of the world but it meant that the plot moved really slowly and by the end of it, not much had really happened. It felt like there were like a few main events that took 400+ pages because of the alternating POVs. Still enjoyable to read and I like the characters but it was just a little slow.
Невероятно продължение на Лунните хроники! Нямам търпение да разбера какво ще се случи по-нататък със Синдер и приятелите ѝ.
Book Two of the series starting with Cinder. This book starts in Europe and blends the Red Riding Hood mythos with the previous retelling of Cinderella all in a world both steampunk-y and cyberpunk-y.
I still think this series could have stood on its own without the fairytale retelling as there is it own unique story underneath the concept full of politics, cyborg and genetic modification and a future world where the moon is inhabited by a mind-controlling queen. See? There's lots to this story besides the fairytale stuff.
This book is even better than [b:Cinder 11235712 Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) Marissa Meyer https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388186881s/11235712.jpg 15545385], which I loved despite its flaws, and I literally couldn't put it down until drowsiness eventually forced me to sleep. As the story shifts its focus to France, I feel that the world-building got a lot better than the vague descriptions of Asia back in the first book. It's easier to imagine the landscapes, and the writing is still easy to follow.Unfortunately, I had some issues with Scarlet as a character. I couldn't like her as much as I like Cinder. Despite the hints of sympathy she shows every now and then, Scarlet is way too hot-headed for my taste. She is quick to judge others, without even bothering to listen to their side of the story first. There are lots of moments when she shows a selfish streak too, prioritizing her wish to rescue her grandmother and not giving a damn about everything else... even if that makes her a loving granddaughter. I don't know, we just don't click. That being said, I find her relationship with Wolf adorable. Or rather, Wolf is endearing. But I have to say that my favorite male character at this point is Cinder's new companion—Thorne. He's so charming in a silly way, and I'm so excited that we get to see more of him in [b:Cress 13206828 Cress (The Lunar Chronicles, #3) Marissa Meyer https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1379083526s/13206828.jpg 18390772].Also, if you're planning to marathon series, make sure you read [b:The Queen's Army 16075962 The Queen's Army (The Lunar Chronicles, #1.5) Marissa Meyer https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1349734763s/16075962.jpg 21871423] after you read Scarlet. It kind of spoiled Ran's identity along with Jael and his special operatives for me, and while it didn't make the book less enjoyable, it did drain the tension and suspense I could've gotten from those scenes.
So glad I kept reading this series! I am now totally invested in the story. I love the new characters introduced in this one, and it just felt like the world was a lot more fleshed out. Scarlet and Wolf are of course awesome. The other characters grow and develop as well. Totally enjoying my brain candy read. :)
"She did not know that the wolf was a wicked sort of animal, and she was not afraid of him."
Lemme just say... I MISSED MY BABY THORNE SO MUCH OKAY???? IT'S BEEN FOREVER I JUST ASDFGHJKL.
Anyways, Scarlet is probably my favourite book in the Lunar Chronicles. Cinder is just as badass and awesome as ever. Scarlet and Wolf are one of my OTPs, and that scene where he fights his brother for her?? I stan.
Did I mention that I love Thorne so much? Because I do. I just want to write about Thorne. THORNEEEEE.
4.5 stars!
This book was almost perfect, I don't know what it was missing but there was something about it that prevented me from giving it less than 4.5 stars. I found it so hard to put it down but was forced to on many occassions. I'm glad I finished it.
Onto the next... Hopefully
2.8/5 stars
I have to say that this is one of my least favorite books in the series. It has a lot of tropes that I dislike. I wasn't particularly excited when I first got to it, and rereading it hasn't improved my opinion of this book. If anything, it went from a 3.1 rating to a 2.8.
Unlike with Cinder, the format of this book felt off. The storylines felt like they clashed a lot. I felt like I was more focused on Cinder's storyline than Scarlets'. I felt like I wasn't really able to know who Scarlet was as the majority of her story consisted of her talking to/looking for her grandma. The introduction of Wolf made it worse. I felt myself skimming through the chapters, only actually paying attention when it mentioned Cinder, Thorne, Kai, or Queen Levana.
The whole alpha concept confused me. I knew that the guy's name was Wolf, but I hadn't expected the author to play into it. Also, the relationship between Scarlet and Wolf felt like it was instant love. This almost made me drop the book and go straight into the next book in the series. The only thing that kept me going is that I was afraid I would miss a detail that would be needed in order to understand a part of the next book in the series. Another thing that kept me going was seeing the friendship between Cinder and Thorne. They definitely one of the better parts of the book.
I wouldn't recommend this book. It's not bad, but it's also not very good. I personally would not read this again. I thought Scarlet would be one of my new favorite characters, but I just ended up disliking her. Maybe it was due to the fact that I hyped her character up too much before reading about her.
Still Loving this series and seeing how the different characters from different fairy tales tie in while keeping the main storyline going. Ending on a cliff hanger..good way to keep it interesting.
5 stars....even better than cinder. the twist...loved it...
